Welcome to Julia's Site!

This blog is made available for several reasons. First and foremost, to keep those that know Julia current with what is going on with her and her progress. It is also my intention to educate those who do not know Julia about what happened to her, so they can make educated decisions about their own children. I want to welcome those of you with questions about her disease, treatments, and just the general life (the good and the bad) of living with a brain damaged child. Finally, it is a therapeutic release for me, Julia's mom, Susan. I love writing and need to get some of this stuff out of my head and onto "paper". Thank you!

Well, Friday and Saturday were spent mostly inside, as a huge snow storm came blowing through most of Colorado. I would say here in Castle Rock, we got at least two feet of snow....thought it would never end, but today it did. The sun was out and a lot of the snow had already melted. Julia was excited to see what it was all about! Shawn (who I like to refer to as the kids' "bonus dad"........Jack calls him his "secondary dad") built a snow fort with a toboggan slide. All the neighborhood kids came over and played in and on it! Julia wasn't able to do the slide, but she had fun eating the snow and wandering around watching the other kids. We could only get one snow boot on her....the left foot was too curled up, so we had to use one boot and one tennis shoe....oh well, she didn't care!

  1. What fun! Building the fort and sledding run and watching the kids enjoy it so much made my day. I was a little worried about the location and engineering but no injuries and the plan worked well for the hill. All the kids had a blast! Julia loved eating the snow and watching everyone and laughed at the kids sledding. She even got do go down part of the hill on one of the sleds.
